Hi there — I’m Rev Deb, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way here!

I’ve been a wedding officiant in the Niagara Region for over 25 years, and let me tell you, I’ve seen it all: teary-eyed elopements, joyful vow renewals, themed weddings with Harry Potter capes, and quiet backyard ceremonies that somehow shine just as brightly as any ballroom affair.

I created The Hitching Post as a cozy little corner of the internet where I can share what I’ve learned from all those beautiful moments — and hopefully help you plan a ceremony that feels just right for you.

Why I Love Small Weddings

Well, to be clear, I love ALL weddings, but I have discovered that not every love story needs a ballroom and a banquet. Sometimes, the most powerful “I do” happens under a garden gazebo, or with just a few loved ones gathered in a cozy room.

That’s why I created The Wee Wedding Cottage — to give couples a heartfelt, affordable, and meaningful way to celebrate their love without all the pressure and price tag of a big event.

And if you already had the big day and want to do it all again? Vow renewals are one of my absolute favourite things.
