The Story Behind the Cathedral Crystal at The Wee Wedding Cottage

The Story Behind the Cathedral Crystal at The Wee Wedding Cottage

Couples sometimes notice it right away.

A large crystal resting quietly in the ceremony space, catching the light differently throughout the day. Some simply think it’s beautiful. Others are immediately drawn toward it, wanting to touch it or stand near it for a moment before the ceremony begins.

Over the years, many people have asked about its story.

And truthfully, the Cathedral Crystal found us.

Back in 2007, we were vendors at a local show when we met a wonderful woman who was walking around placing small crystals on exhibitors’ tables “for success.” Near the end of the event, she called us over quietly and said she had something she wanted to show us.

It was a large cathedral crystal.

She told us she believed it had work to do with us.

At first, the crystal came home on loan. But over time, we completely fell in love with it – the feeling of it, the presence of it, the way people responded to it. Eventually, we purchased it and it quietly became part of our lives and our space.

Today, it rests at The Wee Wedding Cottage.

Some couples choose to include it as part of an optional blessing during their ceremony, a simple moment to pause, breathe, and set an intention for the life they are beginning together.

Others simply enjoy its beauty and the peaceful feeling it brings to the room.

Whatever people believe about crystals, there is something lovely about objects that gather stories over time.

And this one has certainly become part of ours.
